The Towns are more of a flavor thing than something that will shake up the metagame, but their presence is appreciated, and theyre a nicer touch than just another reinterpretation of Forests, Islands, Mountains, Plains, and Swamps

A mysterious sorcerer, "The Creator", created the Great Illuminary and has the ability to summon Glimmers to help them

I was lucky enough to play with both, and having seven mana sources, an equipped Cloud, and a buffed Sephiroth by turn four (yes, its possible) made me feel godlike
